An interesting courtcase in Australia where an Irishman, who stayed in the country on a 1 year work visa, was on trial. The 18-year old Hugh McMahon caused quite some commotion in the town Surfers Paradise. After he was kicked out twice from night club Sin City cause the bouncers thought he was too drunk, he didn’t just go home. Instead McMahon tried to enter the club a third time ‘special forces-style’. Like in the movies he was sneaking in through an air vent. Unfortunately for the Irish teenager he got stuck half way and had to give up his position in order to be rescued.
The first time McMahon was removed from Sin City he was sleeping on one of the couches inside. Somehow the Irishman found his was inside again, but again he was thrown out. Still this didn’t stop him from trying to get in a third time. Using a neighboring apartment McMahon climbed on the roof of the club, where he tried to make his way inside through an air vent. The adventurer got stuck however and had to call for help. After 2 hours in the air vent he was liberated by emergency services personnel.
The Southport Magistrates Court gave McMahon a 900 Australian dollar fine for tresspassing, as well as 1.200 dollar for the damage on the roof and 500 dollar for the rescue operation. All together that made around 1.845 euro.
