You might have wondered why there were no highscores in blood alcohol content (BAC) of drunk Americans in our list. Well the answer is very simple: the breathalyzers of the police in the United States don’t go too far to get anywhere near the European records. Levi Carter experienced this after he crashed his car in Iowa City. His test went up to 0.467 and then it simply said ‘HI’.
The 28-year old Carter got off the road and hit a street sign. When the police arrived he told them he only had 2 Buds Light. But after that our human crash test dummy failed an eye test and proved himself too drunk to pass any other sobriety test the cops made him do. Still Carter insisted he only had 2 beers, so a blood test was necessary. The breathalyzer measured a BAC up to 0.467 and then simply gave up counting. Probably since people run a serious risk of dying above 0.4. Carter however is still alive and locked up in the Johnson County Iowa Jail.
