Recent User Experience

I was planning to buy Knorr's vegetable bouillon powder at a local store but they were out of stock. I came to Amazon and did a search of "vegetable bouillon powder". I was hoping to find Knorr's vegetable bouillon powder on Amazon that was as cheap as what I would pay at a local store, where it's about 50 cents an ounce. I saw that Vegeta was only 26 cents an ounce if I were to buy the 4 lb 6 oz bag. Most of the reviews for Vegeta were positive so I thought I'd give it a try. With it being half the price of Knorr's vegetable bouillon powder, I had little to lose by trying it and much to gain if it turned out to be good.I bought a bag of Vegeta that weighed 4 pounds and 6 ounces. Shipping was free. The Vegeta was $17.99 and with taxes it came out to $18.86. My package arrived in good condition. I sprinkled a small amount of Vegeta on some hash browns and it was a tasty alternative to salt or seasoned salt. I also tried it as a broth for soup and a flavor enhancer and gravy for boneless pork loin. Depending on how I want to use it, 3/4 to 1 level teaspoon per cup of warm water is ideal. If I want to add flavor to something which will already have plenty of flavor, I'll use the weaker mixture. For example, if I want to enhance the flavor of a boneless pork loin and give it a little more liquid for gravy, I'll add 3/4 level teaspoon to a cup of hot water, stir it until it dissolves and then pour it over a boneless pork loin and cook it in my crock pot. Or if I make potato and leek soup, which calls for vegetable stock, I'll use 1 level teaspoon per cup of water. But if I want a broth for vegetable soup where Vegeta is the main flavoring or the only flavoring, I'll use 1 level teaspoon for each cup of water or 4 level teaspoons per quart. I also used 2 level teaspoons of Vegeta to 2 cups of water to cook 1 cup of rice and the results were very good. Some reviewers have noted that there's a lot of sodium in Vegeta. There is but no more than there is in chicken bouillon powder and there's a simple remedy for that: Use less Vegeta. As I said, 3/4 to 1 level teaspoon of Vegeta per cup of water is ideal for most uses but you can use 1/2 to 3/4 of a level teaspoon instead.I've compared vegetable broth I made with Vegeta to broth I made with Better Than Bouillon and the broth made with Better Than Bouillon was no better than broth made with Vegeta even though Better Than Bouillon is more expensive. Vegeta is a good and inexpensive alternative to other brands of vegetable bouillon powder or cubes.
