I'm not a kid. Shocker, right? But I am concerned about my sugar intake, so I'm constantly looking for tasty beverages that aren't loaded with ungodly amounts of sugar. When this came across my radar, I decided to give it a try. I love lemonade, too, after all.This is...a beverage. That's it in short. To speak longer, this is a beverage that doesn't have a lot to it. The ingredient list is very short, just water, cane sugar, citric acid, and "natural flavor," in that order. Short ingredient lists are nice, not a ton of stuff added. And I really like that it uses cane sugar, I have a much better experience with actual sugar than the high fructose corn syrup so often used in beverages. Nutrition wise, there isn't much there, either. 5mg of sodium, 8g of sugar. That's it. I'm okay with that, and I'm down with the ingredient list, even if "natural flavor" doesn't actually tell me anything at all. That could be almost anything.My issue, and the reason I'm only giving this 3 stars, is because the flavor is just like the ingredients and nutrition lists: there isn't much there. It's very watery, not much flavor to it at all. Room temperature isn't great, cold from the fridge is a bit better, but it's still not much flavor. Kind of like when you get a fast food lemonade, drink it all, then come back later and drink the melted ice water that retains a hint of the lemonade that was previously in the cup, it's like that. And it kinda foams up in the mouth when you suck it out of the box. I have no idea what that's about, I don't think anything in the ingredient list should cause it to foam like that. Again, it's not bad, just...unexpected.Overall, it's not a *bad* drink, it's just not a *good* drink. It is, as the kids say, "mid." It's a drink. I don't think kids are going to clamor to beg mom and dad to buy this for them, but it's better than plain water. And I absolutely believe that this is a reasonable beverage to give the kids when you don't want to give them a sugar rush.I dunno. I might get this again. I might not. I'm kind of ambivalent on it. Just like the drink itself. It's ambivalence in a box, with a sippy straw.Oh, and it's called John Lemon. That's cute.
