These broth rings are an excellent base for a whole variety of dishes. I find this perfect for cases where I'd normally use the traditional dashi or dried anchovies. I have used them in various jjigae soups, oden, udon, and other noodle dishes. For a single serving, I usually use two rings. They add a rich, savory flavor, which does not taste fishy at all. It tastes closer to a very mild miso or soy sauce flavor. It works great for anything that has a soup or soupy base.Unlike dashi and dried anchovies, these also have various other ingredients like kelp, shitake mushrooms, onions, carrots, and garlic. This gives it a much more substantial flavor profile that is much more satisfying to me. Pure fish stock to me always tastes a little too thin but these rings have much more depth. I really appreciate that the rings are individually sealed, making it easy to portion out and keep fresh.
