Bonafide Provisions Organic No Salt Added Chicken Bone Broth, 16.9 Oz

Being in the recipe developing/testing/cookbook editing business, my mother and I tend to buy very few prepared shortcut ingredients. But when we do, we buy only those made with ingredients we'd use if making them from scratch. In testing recipes, we need to use what most home cooks would use, and these days, not many have the time or patience to create homemade stocks and broths. So we were very happy to discover the Bonafide organic broths. But we have to admit that Bonafide's regular broths (especially the unsalted, which is our preference), though they work well in many recipes, can be a bit lacking in richness. So we also buy the smaller containers of Bonafide's Organic Bone Broth (which claim to be simmered for 18+ hours), and mix that with their regular organic chicken broth to create a deeper, richer flavor, without breaking the bank. (Their organic bone broth is more expensive due to it being more labor-intensive to produce, so using that alone when a recipe calls for several cups would be costly.) But making a blend of the two is definitely easier and less time-consuming than making chicken broth or stock from scratch. And unlike some prepared broths that use yeast extracts and/or powdered herbs that create a muddy-looking liquid, or have overpowering umami notes, Bonafide's flavors are clean and the ingredients fresh and wholesome. Though perfect for most recipes that call for chicken broth, don't expect their regular organic chicken broths to have a lot of oomph, unless a recipe calls for reducing the liquid. But mild taste aside, Bonafide is now the only prepared broth we use, and to amp up the flavor for dishes that require it, adding some of their more deeply flavored organic bone broth does the trick nicely.
